In "A Character of Your Own," students design an original character and an accompanying digital comic to illustrate the world in which their character lives. From understanding the components of a character-driven story to the artistic process behind character design, students flesh out their character both visually and descriptively through a blend of AI via Midjourney and creative writing. Remark: Students will be required to bring along their own computer / iPad / mobile device to participate in class and use the AI tools.
Discovering new ways that AI can benefit the creative process. Using conversational generative AI as a form of brainstorming, testing understanding, and a tool to solve unique puzzles and riddles.
Vocabulary words relating to famous artists, works of art, and art basics are used in the challenges, reading, and writing sections.
Learners create unique worlds, characters, and plots. Their short stories follow established story structures and show a deep understanding of advanced storytelling.
Imagine otherworldly places with their own well-thought-out system of rules, culture, history, and ecosystems. Learners take their first steps into creating mystical settings that are deserving of their own movie/book franchise.
